ROV Downunder selected for Desal Plant tunnel inspections!
Published: 25th May 2009
ROV Downunder is pleased to announce that it has been selected to carry-out ROV inspections surveys of the new Gold Coast Desalination Plant's intake and outfall tunnels. The ROV inspections will be carried-out in partnership with Seaview Systems using their custom built Seaeye Falcon DR. The two tunnels are 2.8m in diameter and 2.3km in length, running from the Tugun plant at 70m depth all the way out to approx. 1km offshore.
The specialised ROV system arrived in Brisbane on the 6th May from the US and the inspections will take place during a planned plant shutdown mid-May 2009. This is believed to be one of the longest tunnel penetrations ever carried-out, certainly here in Australia and will supply the plantt engineers with both close visual video survey information and profile data.
ROV Downunder is actively seeking other opportunites to demonstrate the deep penetration capabilites oft his system whilst it is here in Australia. Please contact us should you require any further inforation. |
